Crispy Tea-Time Snack Classic Recipe
🧺 Ingredients
  • 1 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
  • 2½ tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 tsp papad khar
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
👩‍🍳 Method
  1. Mix besan, oil, ajwain, papad khar and salt in a bowl.
  2. Add water gradually and knead into a smooth soft dough.
  3. Take a small portion and roll into a cylindrical shape.
  4. Stretch gently from one end to form long strips.
  5. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame.
  6. Deep fry fafdas in batches until crisp and light brown.
  7. Drain on absorbent paper.
  8. Cool slightly and serve or store in airtight container.
💡 Tips
  • Knead the dough just before frying.
  • Apply even pressure while stretching.
  • Shape 2–3 fafdas at a time for efficiency.
  • Cool completely before storing.
  • Papad khar improves crispiness and texture.
