Sabudana Batata Chakali Making Machine

Sabudana Batata Chakali is a traditional Indian sun-dried snack known for its unique crunch and long shelf life. Made using fine Sabudana Batata, this delicacy is commonly prepared during summer months and enjoyed year-round once deep-fried.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sabudana / Sago seeds
  • 2 small boiled Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the sabudana thoroughly under running water for 3–4 times.
  2. Soak the washed sabudana in enough water for 1 hour. Drain all the water.
  3. Cover the soaked sabudana and let it rest overnight.
  4. Next morning, boil 2 small potatoes.
  5. Grate the boiled potatoes into the sabudana and mix well.
  6. Add red chili powder, cumin seeds, and salt. Knead into a soft dough.
  7. If the mixture feels dry, add a little water and knead again.
  8. Fix the chakali chakati (disc) to the chakali press.
  9. Fill a small portion of dough into the press.
  10. Roll out the chakalis on a clean surface (approx. 35 chakalis).
  11. Sun-dry under direct sunlight for 2 days, flipping after 4–5 hours.
  12. If sunlight isn’t available, dry indoors under a fan.
  13. Your Sabudana Batata Chakalis are ready to enjoy!
If the chakali dough is breaking while rolling or if it feels too dry, add a little water, knead the dough again, and then roll out the chakalis
